Clarinetist James Campbell presents a powerful program of gems of the Romantic clarinet repertoire. The music includes the famous concerto, performed with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Paul Freeman; Weber's Duo Concertant with pianist Leonard Hokanson; and Heinrich Baermann's Quintet Op. 23 for Clarinet and String Quartet with the Allegri String Quartet.
Baermann was the most famous clarinetist of his day and Weber's clarinet music was composed for this great musician, who was also his friend. Baermann's Quintet is a fine example of his romantic imagination and operatic style.
